Texas' Arch Manning Says Matthew McConaughey Gives Him Advice on How to Deal with Fame
Arch Manning grew up around fame since he's a part of one of the most legendary football families that features NFL legends Peyton and Eli Manning.
A highly-touted high school prospect, Manning built his own level of fame before joining Texas, but now that fame has reached new heights. To deal with it, he hasn't leaned on his uncles, Peyton and Eli, but instead on one of Texas' most famous alumni.
"I’ve actually talked to Matthew McConaughey about that," Manning told The Athletic's Larry Holder. "He’s given me some advice. He’s been great to have in my corner. … He just told me different ways on how to handle things in different situations. He’s way more known than I am, so it’s good anytime you get advice from him. … He kind of told me you still have to live your life. He says he goes to the grocery store, walks down every aisle and he lives his life. You can’t let you taking a picture or signing an autograph affect your life."

Manning was a consensus 5-star prospect and the No. 1 player in the class of 2023, according to 247Sports' composite rankings. As if his last name and his status coming out of high school weren't enough, Manning has been outstanding in his few appearances so far.
In 10 games last season, Manning threw for 939 yards and nine touchdowns, adding 108 yards on the ground and four touchdowns.
He sat behind Quinn Ewers his first two seasons, but the Longhorns will now hand him the keys to the offense as the team's starting quarterback. Assuming his level of fame only increases, he'll look to continue following McConaughey's words of wisdom on dealing with life as a star.
